PhD Funding Doctoral Scholarships
Doctoral candidates at the HGGS finance their research in various ways. A number of doctoral candidates receive a scholarship from the “Begabtenförderungswerke” (Funding for Gifted Students), the LGF state funding or another foundation, while other doctoral candidates finance themselves through a position at the university or another workplace. Applicants from abroad can apply to the HGGS for a DAAD-GSSP scholarship or directly to the DAAD for an individual scholarship. In addition to the HGGS, there are central advice centres of the Graduate Academy and Heidelberg University that provide information on funding options for the doctoral phase.
Visiting Scholars
The HGGS regularly invites doctoral candidates, postdocs and lecturers from Germany and abroad for a guest stay, during which they can take part in HGGS events and advance their own research project. The funding opportunities provided for this scheme include individual scholarships from the DAAD and the South-South-North scholarships from the Baden-Württemberg Foundation awarded by the HGGS.
