Doctoral Candidate Deepa Elizabath John

Deepa Elizabath John is a PhD candidate in the English Department at the Faculty of Modern Languages. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in India at Mahatma Gandhi University and Hyderabad University. Prior to her PhD, Ms. John gained valuable experience as an editor at Oxford University Press India, where she worked on one of the Oxford Languages projects.

Her research interests include gender studies, cultural studies, and Indian English literature. She has been actively involved in the academic community, having been one of the organisers of the HGGS Forum Agency in Time 2023 and co-speaker for the Doctoral Convention at Heidelberg University, where she represented the doctoral students in 2023-24. She is also a research assistant at HGGS, furthering her engagement in academic work and research.
